Carlos Kerr Jr. is an accomplished Belizean-American performing artist from Brooklyn, New York, currently based in Basel, Switzerland. His movement language is magnetic, refined, and deeply rooted in interdisciplinary artistry, earning him recognition across the international dance landscape.

Carlos’s choreographic works have been featured at renowned festivals and venues. His piece Remotely Equal was a finalist in the Concours Chorégraphique of Mandalain Ballet Biarritz. Never Odd or Even was presented alongside Patrick Delcroix for Tanz Luzerner Theater, and he was selected as an Emerging Choreographer for Springboard Danse Montréal. His work has been invited to numerous platforms, including Tanzwerk 101 Zürich, Dance Gallery Festival, Das Tanzfest Schweiz, Theater Casino Zug, Theater Chur, and Dance Basel.

His artistic journey began at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in New York City. He continued his training at The Ailey School, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from the Ailey/Fordham BFA Program at Lincoln Center, where he graduated with honors. In addition, Carlos holds a Master’s Certificate in Advanced Sciences in Dance Science (Health & Performance) from the University of Bern, expanding his expertise in movement research and performance optimization.

Carlos’s performance career spans globally recognized dance companies and productions, including Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Metropolitan Opera Ballet, RUBBERBAND, Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company, Theater Ulm, Tanz Luzerner Theater, and Snorkel Rabbit. He has performed in works by William Forsythe, Crystal Pite, Hofesh Shechter, Inbal Pinto, Bryan Arias, Alba Castillo, Georg Reischl, Ella Rothschild, Fernando Melo, and Marcos Morau.

Beyond choreography and performance, Carlos is a multidisciplinary artist, movement coach, and creative director. His work extends into sound design, photography, filmmaking, and dance education. He is also a certified GYROKINESIS® trainer, integrating movement science with holistic training methodologies.

As of August 2023, Carlos is a soloist with Ballett Basel, directed by Adolphe Binder and Tilman O’Donnell.
